Stem Cell Research and Therapies

Research into both adult and embryonic stem cells is a rapidly evolving field that attracts considerable public attention.

In December 2002 legislation to ban cloning and regulate research involving human embryos was passed by Federal Parliament.

The NHMRC: National Health and Medical Research Council [National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)] has responsibility for administering arrangements on the use of embryos for stem cell research.
