Participating in Clinical Trials
There are advantages and disadvantages to participating in clinical trials. The advantages include receiving newer treatments and helping others. One of the disadvantages of participating in a clinical trial is that the newer treatments may not be more effective than standard treatments and may have unanticipated side effects. Also, many clinical trials have a control group which means that not all participants receive the newer form of treatment during the trial.
