Pituitary Awareness Week (PAW) is staged each July and features a series of activities in each state, usually at major city hospitals.
The week aims to:
- Raise awareness and understanding of pituitary disorders
- Provide education and information about pituitary disease and encourage early medical
consultations, diagnosis and treatment
- Encourage health professionals to recognise, accurately diagnose and appropriately refer
patients for specialist treatment
- Improve understanding of pituitary disorders among patients, their families and carers to
boost long-term self-management and the quality of life
Activities include information seminars, displays and media publicity. Most events are free.
