New Type 2 Diabetes Educational Resources

Diabetes TASMANIA and the National Prescribing Service (NPS) recently launched a series of short online videos that address medicines use issues for people with type 2 diabetes.

The short videos deal with topics such as the types of medicines used to manage type 2 diabetes and what you should discuss with your health care team.

“Education relates not only to understanding diabetes and how to prevent it, but also how to manage the condition.  Medicines often play a huge role in the management of type 2 diabetes and related conditions, so it is important people understand potential medicine use issues,” NPS CEO, Dr Lynn Weekes said.

A DVD for health professionals which compiles all the segments will also be available in other languages including Cantonese, Mandarin and German.

The videos can be viewed for free at www.nps.org.au/consumers/video/diabetes_medicines and www.diabetestas.com.au/dvd.html.  There is also a media release which provides more details about the videos.

Health professionals and community organisations can order the DVD by calling Diabetes TASMANIA on 03 6215 9000.
