The Australian government has announced that women aged 50-74 will be able to access free breast cancer screening over the next four years.
Currently the age range for free breast screening is women between 50 and 69 years of age. The $55.7 million funding from the government aims to expand BreastScreen Australia’s target by five years, offering free breast screening from women aged 50-74.

The Federal Health Minister, Tanya Plibersek, and Parliamentary Secretary for the Department of Health and Ageing, Shayne Neumann, have announced an initiative to support living donors by providing up to six weeks of salary.
The initiative will be trialed over a two year period and funded by a $1.3 million commitment by the Federal government.
Most living donors donate a kidney, but a partial liver may also be donated. The government is offering living donors:

The Department of Health and Ageing has announced that Australia’s official organ donor rates have increased to record levels for the first quarter of 2013.
The figures are collated from the Australia and New Zealand Organ Donation Registry (ANZOD) and show consistent record growth in organ donation and transplantation month on month this year.
